Looking for a Christian Bible College?
When most people think of “college” they think of movies like Animal House where there are toga parties, keg parties, and well, lots of parties. Then there are those that look at “college” like a prestigious institution where everyone is very serious, overly smart, and walk around in robes and glasses resembling a bunch of little Harry Potters.
What college should represent is a place of education and higher learning. Some people want to get in a little partying here and there, and some are really there to just study and get their diploma as fast as possible.
So, what about Christian Bible College? Why consider attending one of these institutions instead of your basic state university or Ivy League school? Christian Bible College has a lot to offer students, and certainly can and should be considered a “higher learning” institution. Christian Bible College brings more to the table than just education. There are many bible colleges scattered throughout the country, and each one has different degree programs, different students, but the same message. To educate and strengthen the students mentally, physically and spiritually, but also encouraging faith, sense of community, and to prepare them for a life of service to God.
Not all students enrolled in Christian Bible College are looking to pursue a career in ministry, not all students are even Christian. But what it does do is encourage the basic principles of the Christian faith into the everyday lives of it students (being kind to one another, helping each other out, etc.). Most Christian Bible Colleges (such as Oral Roberts University and Texas Christian University) offer extracurricular activities such as sports, community service clubs, academic clubs, service fraternities, and of course, ministry activities. These can be broken down into missions around the world (usually done during school breaks or summer vacation), assisting during mass or service (which is also usually held on campus… most Christian Bible colleges, if not all, have a church on campus), or working with Christian counselors and learning about that aspect of serving God.
Most students who have enrolled in a Christian Bible College (such as Liberty University) are taking more than just a diploma out of their education. They are looking to serve God in their adult life, whether it be becoming a pastor/minister/Christian Counselor, or even a teacher, a scientist, an engineer.
Building a solid spiritual base for students can help add more to the students’ lives than just a regular college or university. It will help prepare students for the challenges ahead in the “real world”, and offer a sense of peace and guidance in their everyday lives.
